Aarohi is a social enterprise headquartered in Satoli village in Nainital District. The transformation of this once-sleepy Satoli village has been spectacular. It is today a buzzing node of grassroots action that has, in some way or other, touched the lives of over 50,000 people in hundreds of villages.

Beginning with specific development plans in 4 villages, Aarohi set to work with a focus in natural resource management and curative services, eventually adding to this, a livelihoods initiative and a primary school. Today, Aarohi makes fantastic personal care products and herbs in addition to their interventions in education, health and livelihoods.

Over the years Aarohi has worked with the wider community in the hills to broaden the economic opportunities available to them without changing their way of life drastically. Aarohi realizes that the lifestyle of the people in the hills is compatible with the fragile ecosystem there. It is with these constraints that Aarohi has been able to carve out a niche for itself my working with the community to skill and train artisans to make competitive products for the markets outside the confines of the villages that Aarohi operates in.
